CALL FOR CANDIDATURES – PH.D. STUDENT

Hola,       
    En mi facultad en Canada ( INRS + Université Laval) están buscando
alumnos para un doctorado en microsismica para monitoreo de derrumbes en
minas. 
    Esto seria la continuación de mi doctorado ( que termine en enero) . Si
alguien esta interesado, pueden comunicarse con migo ( o directamente con
mi director Bernard Giroux - BERNARD.GIROUX en ETE.INRS.CA).

     This call for candidatures is for the recruitment of a Ph.D. student to
conduct research under the co-
     supervision of Prs. Philippe Morissette and Bernard Giroux, affiliated
with the Department of Mining,
      
     Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Université Laval and the
Institut National de la Recherche
     Scientifique (INRS), in Quebec City. The research project, conducted
with a recognized industrial
     partner, aims at expanding knowledge in the management of
mining-induced seismicity in deep
     underground mines. The objective of the project is to improve and
validate a method, based on the
     ensemble Kalman filters, to track seismic velocity changes in the rock
mass directly from seismic data.
      
     The project will aim at confirming the relationship between seismic
velocity changes and mining-
     induced stress changes, experimentally, based on in-situ stress
measurements.

      Requirements
 
      • A master’s degree in the field of mining engineering, geological
engineering, or geophysics.
      Relevant skills
      • Seismic data processing and analysis;
      • Programming (C++, Matlab or Python);
      • Experience with the ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF);
      • Experience with in-situ stress measurement is an asset;
      • Field experience in underground mines is an asset;
      • Fluency in English, both oral and written;
      • Reading and speaking fluently in French is an asset.
