  The Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern (AIUB) is now 
  accepting applications for a Ph.D. position in the field of planetary 
  geodesy.

  The focus will be on the simulation of deep space tracking and altimetry 
  data for a potential future orbiter around the Jovian moon Callisto, and 
  the use of this data for orbit and geodetic parameter determination to 
  study and develop different orbit and mission scenarios.

    [GEOINFO] CONCURSO DE BECA PICT DE AGENCIA

      Se convoca a un llamado para postularse a beca doctoral para un
Proyecto PICT (ANPCYT-FONCYT).

      El título del Proyecto es "Geología y Geofísica de la Llanura
Costera del Río de la Plata".

      El tema de trabajo será el "Análisis de la arquitectura y
estructuras sedimentarias someras en base a métodos geofísicos". 

      A partir de la aplicación de métodos de sísmica de reflexión,
georadar (GPR) y geoeléctrica, se caracterizará la distribución
regional, geometría y variaciones faciales de las unidades geológicas del
subsuelo poco profundo correspondientes al Holoceno, en la zona costera
bonaerense del río de la Plata.

      Duración de la Beca: 3 años.

      Requisitos:

      Licenciados en Geología o Geofísica.

      Edad: hasta 35 años a la fecha de cierre del concurso.

      Lugar de trabajo: Buenos Aires (en Departamento de Física de la UBA y
en Servicio de Hidrografía Naval).

      Fecha de cierre del concurso: 12 de Septiembre.

      - with apologies for a rather anonymous mass email -
      Shell is currently seeking to fill 3 geophysics graduate positions,
one
      of them (Quantitative Geophysicist) is envisaged to mostly work on
      non-seismic methods (potential fields) interfacing with other
specialist
      geosciences. The positions are Netherlands-based, for more details

      The QI/non-seismic position would support/link with a lot of my work
on
      crustal scale tectonics/structural geology/geodynamics in
      frontier/regional exploration. Students with a strong background in
      potential field methods and crustal/large scale tectonics/geodynamics
      would be ideally suited.
      The applicants do, however, have to go through Shell's general
(online)
      assessment first which is HR-driven. Unfortunately, the technical
      disciplines have little to no say in this pre-selection process as
      strange as this may sound... However, if you have interested students
      (M.Sc./Ph.D.) please get in touch with me and I can forward CVs
      internally.
      Application deadline is 31-Dec-2019, but potential applicants are
      encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
