FONDECYT POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS AT UNIVERSIDAD VIñA DEL MAR, CHILE

The Escuela de Ciencias of Universidad Viña del Mar (UVM) invites
applications to the FONDECYT postdoctoral fellowships 2023 to work in
planetary sciences, exoplanets, accretion disks (around black holes or
young stars), computational astrophysics, or related topics. Prof. Matías
Montesinos at UVM will sponsor the selected candidate to apply for a 2-3
year fellowship funded by the FONDECYT program. The fellowship includes an
attractive package, covering salaries ~CLP$24.000.000 (~USD$30,400) per
year, travel and operational expenses ~CLP$4.500.000 (~USD$5,700) per year,
and up to CLP$3.000.000 (~USD$3,800) for initial relocation costs. The open
call has a deadline of Apr. 28th 2022, starting on Apr. 15th 2023.
Candidates should have obtained their Ph.D. between Jan. 1st, 2019, and
Aug. 31st, 2022, with extensions to earlier dates for female applicants who
have had children since then. Postdocs can apply for the 10% observing time
guaranteed to Chilean institutions on all facilities in the country. The
candidate should contact Dr. Montesinos as soon as possible, sending their
CV (including Ph.D. graduation date), a list of publications, a description
of research interests, and two letters of recommendation. The Escuela de
Ciencias is located at Campus Rodelillo, Universidad Viña del Mar in a
green and peaceful environment. The selected postdoc will have a strong
interaction with other national and international Universities in a
scientifically productive atmosphere.

STUDENT SUMMER OPPORTUNITY FUNDED BY GOOGLE FOR WORKING WITH TARDIS RT

We are seeking excited and enthusiastic students of any level to work
full-time for us (remotely) for 1.5 or 3 months. This is facilitated
through the Google Summer of Code program and is specifically only done
online (no travel necessary). Students will be paid a stipend by Google.

We are looking for excited and enthusiastic students to hack with us on
TARDIS, an open-source scientific code to create synthetic spectra for
supernovae, as part of the Google Summer of Code 2022 (GSoC;
https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com )! Application details are at

GSoC is designed to encourage new open-source developers to write code for
various open-source software projects. It offers a sizeable remuneration of
3000 - 6000 USD (depending on location and time spent) for a coding period
of 175 (~1.5 months) or 350 hours (~3 months; completed between June 13 –
September 12) of full-time work (the students are specifically required to
participate remotely so no travel needed). TARDIS has been selected as a
