Dear Beatriz
I completely agree with you. The cost for registering for the IAU GA is
indeed very high for many of the people we want to be part of it. Our
decision to make the meeting open access (i.e. all talks will be live
streamed) will be a start towards getting more people involved. However, we
do want people to be able to fully participate virtually. The mechanism we
have for the target audience you mention is the grant application which one
can complete when completing the abstract submission. Those grants can be
used to waive the fees for virtual participation. Please advise anyone you
know who is looking to access the meeting to please submit a grant
application and request in that application that their fees are waived for
virtual participation.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Kevin
