Dear IDL2020 Event Organizers,
We wish to thank you all for your participation and engagement with the
2020 International Day of Light around 16 May. Various online and
virtual activities have taken place over the past few days and a variety
of events will still take place throughout the year. To date, events are
registered in 70 countries worldwide and we are sincerely grateful for
your continued support and enthusiasm for IDL, particularly amid these
uncertain times. Here are some general updates about some special

Release of the 2020 International Day of Light #SEETHELIGHT Video
We welcome you to enjoy and share the new 2020 International Day of
Light Video, created by the Optical Society (OSA), SPIE and the IEEE
Photonics Society with support from the IDL Steering Committee. This
video message addresses how light science and technology can provide
efficient solutions to current global challenges:

New #SEETHELIGHT Materials
#SEETHELIGHT is a worldwide message encouraging all to join the
conversation and celebrate the importance of the science of light and
light-based technologies in our lives. As part of this campaign, we are
excited to have featured four new articles on the topics of Better
Diagnostics & Treatments, Cleaner Energy, Sustainable Farming, and High

Celebrate IDL2020 From Home
In early May we launched two new initiatives for IDL2020 to spur online
engagement for the celebrations around 16 May
https://www.lightday.org/celebrate-idl-2020. Thousands of images have
been shared across various social media platforms, and the call for
videos from the IDL community were received by 26 counties to date. You
can browse a variety of the selected video submissions on the official
IDL social media pages. The popularity of this community videos
initiative, video submissions will be accepted until the end of May and
new videos received will be shared on IDL social media over the next 2-3
weeks as they are received and reviewed.

Remember to use #IDL2020 and #SEETHELIGHT on social media and to connect
with the IDL social media channels on throughout the year on Twitter
(@IDLOfficial), Facebook (@DayOfLight2020) and Instagram (@IDL2020)
where we will be featuring various updates and events taking place

We welcome you to register your event or activity that celebrates the
role of light that takes place any time in 2020. If you have to
