COMET C/2013 R1 (LOVEJOY)
     Carl W. Hergenrother, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of
Arizona, reports that three strongly curved jets have been observed in comet
C/2013 R1. The features were detected in V- and R-band images with a plate
scale of 0".376 that were taken with the 1.8-m Vatican Advanced Technology
Telescope (VATT) on Nov. 11.46 UT. The first jet emanates from the near-
nucleus region at p.a. 135 deg with an endpoint 8".2 from the nucleus at p.a.
180 deg. The second jet emanates at p.a. 100 deg and ends 9".3 from the
nucleus at p.a. 130 deg. The third jet is the weakest and least curved; it
emanates at p.a. 80 deg and ends 9".7 from the nucleus at p.a. 90 deg. No
obvious motion was detected over a span of 15 minutes.

     Additional selected visual total-magnitude and coma-diameter estimates
(cf. CBET 3659): Oct. 3.73 UT, 10.2, 4'.3 (C. Wyatt, Walcha, NSW, Australia,
25-cm reflector); 11.75, 9.3, 5' (S. Yoshida, Gunma, Japan, 0.40-m reflector);
16.22, 8.7, 7' (J. J. Gonzalez, Asturias, Spain, 25x100 binoculars); 31.15,
7.2, 10' (A. Kammerer, St. Leon-Rot, Germany, 9x63 binoculars); Nov. 2.12,
6.6, 10' (B. H. Granslo, Roverkollen, Oslo, Norway, 10x50 binoculars); 3.72,
6.3, 15' (David A. J. Seargent, Cowra, NSW, Australia, 6x35 binoculars);
7.50, 6.5, 12' (Carl Hergenrother, Tucson, AZ, U.S.A., 10x50 binoculars);
10.69, 6.1, 16' (K. Yoshimoto, Yamaguchi, Japan, 8x42 binoculars); 13.16,
5.6, 15' (Granslo); 13.73, 6.1, 13' (M. Mattiazzo, Swan Hill, Vic., Australia,
8x40 binoculars).
