SUPERNOVA 2012gf IN PGC 67294 = PSN J21450963+1006126
     Simone Leonini, Siena, Italy, reportS the discovery by A. Dimai (Cortina
d'Ampezzo, Italy) of an apparent supernova (mag about 16.8) on two unfiltered
CCD images (limiting mag 18.0) taken on Oct. 30.774 UT taken with the 0.28-m
telescope of the Col Drusci Observatory in the course of the Italian
Supernovae Search Project. The new object is located at R.A. = 21h45m09s.63,
Decl. = +10d06'12".6 (equinox 2000.0), which is 13" west and 9" north of the
nucleus of the presumed host galaxy. No stellar source is visible at this
position on Palomar Sky Survey infrared, red, and blue plates (1994 July 3,
F plate; 1990 Sept. 13, J plate; 1990 July 20, N plate; limiting mag 19.5).
The images utilized for the discovery are posted at the following website URL:
http://www.astrofilisenesi.it/public/Sne/Uploads/PSN_PGC067294.jpg.  The
variable was designated PSN J21450963+1006126 when it was posted at the
Central Bureau's TOCP webpage and is here designated SN 2012gf based on the
spectroscopic confirmation reported below. Additional CCD magnitudes for
2012gf:  Sept. 6, [18.0 (Dimai); 27, [18.0 (Dimai); Oct. 16.783, 17.4 (Dimai;
pre-discovery; barely visible; limiting mag about 18.0); Nov. 6.077, 17.6 (R.
A. Koff, Bennett, CO, USA; Meade 0.25-m f/10 reflector + Apogee U-47 camera;
limiting magnitude 19.2; position end figures 09s.47, 12".9; image posted at
http://antelopehillsobservatory.org/SNpictures/PSNJ21450963+1006126final.jpg);
7.101, 18.1 (J. Brimacombe, Cairns, Australia; luminance filter; position end
figures 09s.47, 13".9). Brimacombe's image is posted at the following website

     L. Tomasella, S. Benetti, E. Cappellaro, P. Ochner, A. Pastorello, and
M. Turatto, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, Istituto Nazionale di
Astrofisica, report that optical spectroscopy (range 340-820 nm; resolution
1.3 nm), obtained on Nov. 6.82 UT with the Asiago 1.82-m Copernico Telescope
(+ AFOSC) by the Service Telescope Operating Team, shows that PSN
J21450963+1006126 = SN 2012gf is a type-II supernova about ten days after
the explosion at assumed redshift z = 0.027536 (Falco et al. 1999, PASP 111,
438; via the NED database), similar to SN 1999em (Baron et al. 2000, Ap.J.
545, 444; Elmhamdi et al. 2003, MNRAS 338, 939).  The Asiago classification
spectra are posted at website URL http://graspa.oapd.inaf.it; classification
was made via GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383) and SNID
(Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024).
