NOVA ERIDANI 2009
     E. Guido and G. Sostero, Castellammare di Stabia, Italy, report their
confirmation of the possible nova (cf. CBET 2050) on Nov. 26.36 UT (GRAS
Observatory, near Mayhill, NM, 0.25-m, f/3,4 reflector + CCD). The unfiltered
CCD magnitude was about 8.2 and the position R.A. = 4h47m54s.12, Decl. =
-10d10'43".1 (equinox 2000.0, UCAC2 Catalogue reference stars). They also
remark on the nearby star of mag 15 on the DSS red plate of 1990 Nov. 23.

     H. Maehara, Kwasan Observatory, Kyoto University, reports on a
low-resolution spectrum (range 400-800 nm) of the Eridanus object obtained
on Nov. 26.557 UT with the 0.25-m telescope at the Kwasan Observatory.
The spectrum shows broad Balmer series, He I (501.6 nm) and N III (464.0 nm)
emission lines. The FWHM of H_alpha emission is 3400 km/s. See also

Maehara also communicates the following report by M. Fujii (Okayama) and
concludes that the object seems likely to be an He/N-class nova: "A spectrum
(range 380-880 nm) of the object obtained on Nov. 26.49 UT shows Balmer
(FWHM of H_alpha emission 3200 km/s), He I (447.1, 501.6, 587.6, 667.8, 706.5
nm), N III (464.0 nm), Na I D (589.2 nm), O I (777.3, 844.6 nm) and
Mg II (823.2 nm) emission lines. See also
