SUPERNOVAE 2009fz, 2009gb, 2009gd, 2009ge, 2009gg, AND 2009gi
     R. J. Foley, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, reports that
a CCD spectrum (range 305-1000 nm), obtained on June 22 UT with the 6.5-m
Magellan Clay telescope (+ MagE), shows that 2009fz (cf. CBET 1838) is a
type-IIb supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra,
using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007,
Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2009fz is similar to SN 1993J at two weeks
after maximum light. The spectra of 2009gb (cf. CBET 1840) and 2009gg (cf.
CBET 1848) are those of type-Ia supernova, with SNID ages of 20 and 10 days
after maximum light, respectively. The spectra of 2009gd (cf. CBET 1842)
and 2009ge (cf. CBET 1843) show that they are supernovae of types Ic and II,
with SNID-determined ages of 3 weeks after maximum and 10 days after
explosion, respectively. A spectrum of SN 2009gi (cf. CBET 1853) shows that
it is likely of type Ia near maximum brightness. There appears to be Si II
615.5-nm, as well as other features indicative of a type-Ia supernova;
however, the large Galactic reddening hampers the ability to definitively
classify 2009gi; from weak narrow emission lines, a recession velocity
of 4002 +/- 4 km/s is measured for its host galaxy.
