SUPERNOVA 2009A
     Y. Ihara, M. Doi, N. Yasuda, and K. Tokita, University of Tokyo; and T.
Hattori, National Astronomical observatory of Japan, report that a spectrum
(range 370-900 nm) of 2009A (cf. CBET 1645), obtained on Jan. 4.28 UT with
the 8.2-m SUBARU Telescope (+ FOCAS), shows it to be a type-II-P supernova.
SN 2009A is best fitted to the spectrum of the type-II-P supernova 1999em
at 1 day after discovery (Hamuy et al. 2001, Ap.J. 558, 615) via a reduced-
chi^2 method by K. Tokita. The redshift of the possible host galaxy,
reported on CBET 1645, is z = 0.0172 +/- 0.0002, measured by H_alpha, H_beta,
O III, N II, and S III emission lines. The peak velocity of H_alpha of the
supernova is measured to be blue-shifted by about 8400 km/s with respect to
the galaxy. A tidal feature extending from the host galaxy is observed at
the position of the supernova with unfiltered optical imaging observations.
Corrigendum. G. Pignata revises their dates on the last two lines of
CBET 1645, regarding reference images, to 2008 Dec. 9.16 and 13.10 (not
2007 Dec. 9.16 and 13.10).
