                          /This is the final general announcement for the
2022 Gemini Science Meeting. All subsequent updates will only be sent to
registered participants./

                          Just a few more weeks to go before the 2022 Gemini
Science Meeting, and Gemini/NOIRLab are looking forward to seeing you
there, whether in person, or online! We are making every effort to plan for
a safe meeting, given the lessons learned from other astronomy conferences
held earlier in the year. 

                          Registration and poster abstract submission close
on Friday 1 July 2022.[3] Virtual registration will enable attendees to
interact online, and to participate during question and discussion periods.
We will be assigning moderators who will be dedicated to our virtual
audience to help maximize their engagement in the meeting. The conference
will also be live-streamed on social media, which will be free of charge,
but viewers of the live-stream who have not also registered will not be
able to ask questions or interact with attendees.  Details on where to
watch the live-stream will be posted at the conference website.

                          It is truly an exciting time to gather for the
Gemini Science Meeting — the observatory is in the midst of a major
revitalization of its capabilities (Flamingos2 MOS, GHOST, GNIRS IFUs,
GPI-2, IGRINS-2, SCORPIO, GNAO, GIRMOS) and will help lead the coming
scientific revolution together with JWST, LIGO/VIRGO/KAGRA O4, and Vera C.
Rubin Observatory, another NOIRLab Program. Check out the latest conference
schedule and abstract book[4]. We hope you will join us to share and
discuss recent Gemini-enabled discoveries, as well as to explore ideas for
the future!

                          SCIENCE PROGRAM

                          The science program will be finalized this week.
You can view the preliminary program on the GSM22 website[5]. 

                          REGISTRATION DEADLINE (1 JULY 2022)

                          Registration [6]will close on Friday, 1 July 2022.
If you haven’t registered to attend yet, whether in person or virtually,
please do so.

                          ABSTRACT SUBMISSION 

                          Abstract submission for contributed talks is
closed. We are still accepting abstracts for posters[7] until 1 July 2022
at the following link.

                          ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

                          Please check whether you are eligible for an
electronic travel authorization (K-ETA) or a visa waiver here[8]. If not,
for all visa applications please contact your nearest Embassy of the
Republic of Korea to apply for a visa. The LOC will provide a letter in
support of visa applications to all registered participants.

                          COVID-19 PROTOCOLS AND POLICY

                          The Gemini Observatory and the GSM2022 organizing
committees are committed to providing a safe meeting environment for all.
We have made a best-effort compilation of COVID-19 protocols[9] for entry
to Korea.
