V1723 AQUILAE = NOVA AQUILAE 2010
     Elena Kazarovets, Russian Academy of Sciences, writes that the
GCVS designation V1723 Aql has been assigned to this nova (cf. IAUC
9167).

     D. Balam, Dominion Astrophysical Observatory, National
Research Council of Canada (NRCC); and E. Y. Hsiao and M. Graham,
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, report that inspection of a
low-dispersion spectrogram (range 575-696 nm, resolution 0.4 nm),
obtained with the NRCC 1.82-m Plaskett telescope on Sept. 14.17 UT,
shows a red continuum dominated by H_alpha emission (HWZI about
2000 km/s) with a P-Cyg profile and strong emission peaks of Na I
(589.6 nm), [O I] (630 nm), and Fe II (multiplet 74) lines at 614.9,
623.8, 624.7 and 645.6 nm.

COMETS C/2009 S6-S12 AND S/2009 T4-T10 (SOHO)
     Further to IAUC 9166, additional near-sun comets have been
found on SOHO website images -- all Kreutz sungrazers except for
C/2009 S9 (Meyer group) and C/2010 T10 (non-group).  Physical
descriptions by K. Battams: C/2009 S6, slightly diffuse, short
tail; C/2009 S7, marginally diffuse, faint; C/2008 S8, quite
diffuse, faint tail; C/2009 S9, stellar appearance (peak mag about
7); C/2009 S10, slightly diffuse, with a tail; C/2009 S11, very
faint (mag about 7.5); C/2009 S12, slightly diffuse (mag about 8.5);
C/2009 T4, mag about 8-8.5; C/2009 T5, diffuse with a tail; C/2009
T6, mag about 7.5-8; C/2009 T7, mag about 8.5; C/2009 T8, diffuse
(mag about 7.5) with a "slight tail"; C/2009 T9, mag about 8;
C/2009 T10, perhaps marginally diffuse (mag about 7.5).
