SUPERNOVA 2010jc IN NGC 1033
Further to CBET 2491, S. Howerton, Arkansas City, KS, U.S.A.; A. J. Drake,
S. G. Djorgovski, A. Mahabal, M. J. Graham, and R. Williams, California
Institute of Technology; J. L. Prieto, Carnegie Observatories; M. Catelan,
Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile; E. C. Beshore and S. M. Larson,
Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of Arizona; and E. Christensen,
Gemini Observatory, report the CRTS discovery of an apparent supernova by
Howerton in public images from the Catalina Sky Survey (CSS):

SN 2010 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset
 2010jc Oct. 29.37 2 40 13.98 - 8 46 27.1 18.2 31".8 W, 9".7 N

Further magnitude estimates for 2010jc: Oct. 19.27 UT, [19.5 (CSS); 30.26,
18.1 (remotely with the LB-1 0.6-m telescope at Rodeo, NM, U.S.A.).
     T. Puckett and J. Newton report the independent discovery of 2010jc
at mag 18.1 on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 19.8) taken with a 0.40-m
reflector at Portal, AZ, U.S.A., on Oct. 31.27 UT in the course of the Puckett
Observatory Supernova Search. The new object, which was confirmed at mag 17.9
on images (limiting mag 20.1) taken by Puckett on Nov. 1.32 with a 0.60-m
reflector at Ellijay, GA, U.S.A., is located at R.A. = 2h40m13s.97, Decl. =
-8o46'25".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 31".7 west and 11".5 north of the
center of NGC 1033. Nothing is visible at this position on images taken by
Puckett on 2010 Oct. 16 (limiting mag 19.5).
