SUPERNOVA 2011br IN NGC 5881 = PSN J15062020+6259006
     Further to CBET 2678, M. Mason, K. Lin, S. B. Cenko, W. Li, and A. V.
Filippenko report the LOSS discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered
KAIT images:

SN 2011 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset
 2011br Apr. 9.50 15 06 20.20 +62 59 00.6 18.2 5".2 W, 10".0 S

This variable was designated PSN J15062020+6259006 when posted on the Central
Bureau's TOCP webpage and is here designated SN 2011br based on the
spectroscopic report below. Additional CCD magnitudes for 2011br: Mar. 10.54
UT, [19.3 (KAIT); Apr. 10.48, 18.4 (KAIT); 11.133, 18.2 (Joseph Brimacombe,
Cairns, Australia; remotely using a 51-cm RCOS telescope + STL11K camera + red
filter at New Mexico Skies Observatory, Mayhill, NM, U.S.A.; position end
figures 20s.17, 00".6); 17.245, 17.8 (Brimacombe). Brimacombe's Apr. 11 image
is posted at http://www.flickr.com/photos/43846774@N02/5610004688/; his image
from Apr. 17 is posted at http://www.flickr.com/photos/43846774@N02/5629808506/.

     J. M. Silverman and A. V. Filippenko, University of California,Berkeley,
report that inspection of a fairly noisy CCD spectrum (range 340-1000 nm),
obtained by A. Sonnenfeld (University of California, Santa Barbara) on Apr. 15
UT with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that PSN
J15062020+6259006 = SN 2011br is likely a type-Ib supernova. The host galaxy
is at a redshift of 0.0221 (calculated from narrow emission lines in the
spectrum).
