  POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN THEORETICAL AND OBSERVATIONAL COSMOLOGY

Job description:
Call for Applications: Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical and
Observational Cosmology, COSMOGRAV-UTA Group, Department of Physics,
Faculty of Sciences, University of Tarapacá, Arica, Chile.
    
   Location: Arica, Chile, South America. Focus Areas: General Relativity
and Quantum Cosmology (gr-qc), Astrophysics (astro-ph), High Energy Physics
- Theory (hep-th), Mathematical Physics (math-phys).

   Job Description: The Cosmology and Gravitation Group (COSMOGRAV-UTA) in
the Department of Physics, Faculty of Sciences, at the University of
Tarapacá (UTA), Arica, Chile, invites applications for two postdoctoral
positions to be considered for the FONDECYT Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025.
The selection process involves two stages: an initial internal review by a
designated faculty member followed by a subsequent external evaluation
conducted by the Chilean National Commission for Scientific and
Technological Research (ANID), which will make the final decision. Further

The positions are for a duration of 2-3 years, with the expected start date
on April 15, 2025.   
  Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must have earned their doctoral degree
after January 1, 2021, and before the closing date of institutional
sponsorship in April 2024. The relevant date is when all requirements for
the doctoral degree were met. For women who have given birth between
January 1, 2021, and the closing date of institutional sponsorship, the
eligibility period for obtaining their doctoral degree starts on January 1,
2020. Researchers who certify the birth of more than one child since 2021
are entitled to extend the eligibility period by one year for each child,
considering the period for obtaining their PhD certificate before 2020.

                /Compensation and Benefits: The salary is competitive by
Chilean standards, approximately 22,475 USD/year after a 14.5% deduction in
taxes. Additionally, the fellowship includes a budget for installation
expenses (approximately 3,000 USD) and operating costs (about 4,500
USD/year), which can be used for travel, computational equipment, hiring of
casual staff, and other related expenses./
