/Modeling spectra of stellar atmospheres and winds
-------------------------------------------------

This course gives an introduction to the theory of stellar atmospheres,
focused on spherically expanding atmospheres in non-LTE. In other words,
we will deal with the theoretical background and the numerical algorithms
the Potsdam Wolf-Rayet (PoWR) code is based on.

Topics that will be addressed:
* Specification of a model
* Velocity field
* Eq. of radiative transfer in the co-moving frame
* Moment equations and Eddington factors
* Algebraic representation by differencing schemes
* Boundary conditions
* Equations of statistical equilibrium
* Iteration with Approximate Lambda Operators
* Energy conservation and temperature stratification
* Hydrodynamics
* Atomic data
* Iron line blanketing
* Eq. of radiative transfer in the observer's frame
* Spectral line broadening/

Aim group: Bachelor, Master and PhD students interested in modeling of
stellar spectra
