Queremos contarles que esta semana se han realizado 2 defensas de tesis
doctorales por videoconferencia en nuestra facultad.
Felicitamos a los nuevos doctores y los invitamos a exponer su trabajo de
tesis a toda la comunidad cuando se restablezcan las actividades
presenciales.

              4TH IVS TRAINING SCHOOL ON VLBI FOR GEODESY AND
ASTROMETRY

                         22-25 MARCH 2022

                               ONLINE

The aim of this training school is to prepare for the next generation VLBI,
both in terms of the technical development, but also in terms of conveying
knowledge between generations of researchers. Currently, the VLBI technique
is in a very exciting phase of renewal with equipment for the next
generation VLBI technique, the VLBI Global Observing System (VGOS) being
installed at several places world-wide.  VGOS promises to become
a significant improvement in accuracy for the VLBI results. Thus, VGOS
will be of great importance for geosciences and global change
research, e.g., the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS). At the same
time, a new generation of VLBI researchers is emerging and efforts are
necessary to convey knowledge in the VLBI technique to
the next generation, both concerning the legacy system and the new
system. This school shall address these issues and provide the necessary
training. 

       

      The IVS Training School is organized by the IVS Committee on
Education and Training (IVS CTE, more information
at https://www.maanmittauslaitos.fi/en/ivs-committee-education-and-training[1]).

      Due to the global pandemic the school will be organized in online

at https://www.lyyti.fi/reg/VLBI_School. Please submit the registration
form by 15th of January 2022.
