Hello,

Even though it's only February, a glance at the 2020 International Day
of Light event calendar on the website (www.lightday.org/events) shows
that events have already been registered in over 30 countries. This is
a remarkable start to the year and will only get better.

As a listed national node, it is our hope that you will not only engage
in the organization of IDL2020 activities yourself, but that you will
also encourage others in your country or region to do the same. We are
eager to have more event registrations in 2020 than ever before, and we
cannot do so without the engagement and support of our National Nodes.
We encourage everyone to official register their activities
(https://bit.ly/2S2pDT0) and you can send me an email anytime if you
wish to make any edits or updates to your event listings.

As a reminder, there are two particular themes of the International Day
of Light for 2020. One is an inclusive and general campaign to bring
together all aspects of light under the #SeetheLight tagline and hashtag
and this will be accelerating rapidly as the 16th of May approaches. The
second theme relates to the fact that 2020 represents 60 years since the
development of the laser, and there is already tremendous enthusiasm
amongst the scientific community to celebrate this anniversary. We
welcome you to explore our growing list of resources that you can avail
of for your activities: www.lightday.org/resources

We also remind you that we are active on social media and we will be
promoting the various events being planned around the world. Everyone is
encouraged to use the hashtags #SeeTheLight and #IDL2020 and to follow
our updates on Twitter (@IDLOfficial), Instagram (@IDL2020) and Facebook
(DayOfLight2020). If you are also interested in sharing the registered
IDL2020 activities in your region in our monthly newsletter, please let
me know.

Please get in touch at any time if you have any questions. We look
forward to connecting all of our celebrations of the International Day
of Light with one voice that reaches the public. Our goal continues to
build awareness of the International Day of Light and the importance of
science of light and light-based technologies.

"Muchas veces mis alumnos me preguntan si la hermenéutica telúrica incaica
transtrueca la peripatética anotrética de la filosofía aristotélica, por la
inicuidad fáctica de los diálogos socráticos no dogmáticos. Yo siempre les
respondo que no."
