Department of Physics of the Pedagogical University of Cracow invites
applications for an assistant professor position in astronomy to begin in
October, 2019. More details on the application procedure and documents that
must be submitted are available from Andy Baran
(andrzej.baran en up.krakow.pl). The position is scientific, not teaching,
however we expect that our new employee will provide up to 30hours/year,
general education level classes and/or outreach. The employee will have
opportunity to participate in two current grants on sdB stars.

The competition may be joined by the candidates who meet the requirements
stated in the article 113 and 116, paragraph 2 point 3 of Law of 20th July
2018, Law on Higher Education (Journal of Laws from 2018, item 1668), and
the following requirements:

Application Requirements:
1/ Ph.D. degree in Physical Sciences (astronomy related) received not
earlier than in 2015;
2/ Scientific achievements in the field of Astronomy and Stellar
Spectroscopy;
3/ Experience in Spectroscopy, preferably compact stars.

In the case of employment the following will be expected from an employee:
1/ participating in research work in the field of hot subdwarfs;
2/ application for research projects founded from external sources;
3/ publication of the results of conducted research in scientific journals
of international standing;
4/ participation in the organizational works of the Physics Department;
5/ providing teaching up to 30 hours / year

List of the required documents that should be submitted by the candidate:
1) an application to the Rector of the Pedagogical University of Cracow;
2) personal questionnaire, C.V.;
3) photocopies of diplomas of graduation and a diploma confirming obtaining
a Ph.D. degree (in case of degrees obtained abroad a document certifying its
equivalence is required);
4) list of published scientific papers;
5) list of research projects in which the candidate participated;
6) copies of certificates, diplomas and other documents confirming possible
additional qualifications;
7) optional, opinions of Ph.D. dissertation from the scientific supervisor
or references from a superior from a previous or current job;
8) a statement stating that the Pedagogical University of Cracow will be the
primary place of work (if accepted an offer);
9) statement on the knowledge and acceptance of rules regarding intellectual
property and legal protection of the intellectual property at the
Pedagogical University of Cracow;
10) statement on meeting the conditions set out in Article 113 of the Act of
20 July 2018 on the Law on Higher Education and Science (consolidated text:
Journal of Laws 2018, item 1668).

Note: 1) diplomas, certificates and other documents confirming
qualifications should be copies confirmed as true copies; 2) submitted
documents should be signed by the candidate;
