TÍTULO
Recovering the origin of Lenticular Galaxies from stellar kinematics and
multi-wavelengths surveys.
RESUMEN
Recent results from IFU surveys, as SAURON and Califa, changed our view
of galaxy classification, proposing to use the kinematic balance between
rotation and random motion in a galaxy, in order to classify galaxies
into fast and slow rotators; with some of the fast rotators presenting
spiral arms. In this new view, lenticular galaxies, which traditionally
fall at the apex of the Hubble tuning fork, between elliptical and
spiral galaxies, will naturally fall in the fast-rotator group. It is
now to be understood if all fast rotators are lenticular galaxies or
whether there are different path to create fast rotators and even
lenticular galaxies. In this talk I will present results from planetary
nebulae and globular clusters kinematics to tackle this issue. I will
show some attempt to use multi-band images to identify parameter that
can be use to classify galaxies and I will introduce a new
Brazilian-Spanish survey (J-PAS), that will observe the northern sky in
56 filters, and the south and north hemisphere in 12 filters (S-PLUS and
J-PLUS).
