La Dra Elena Pian de la Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa,  dará una  
charla invitada el próximo miércoles 14 de octubre a las 13hs. en el  
salón Meridiano.


Titulo:  "Multiwavelength observations of gamma-ray bursts and
their afterglows, and properties of their progenitors"

Resumen:
Gamma-ray burst counterparts were detected first in 1997 at X-ray to
radio wavelengths.  To date, we know almost 1000 of them, but some of
the fundamental questions related to the nature of the progenitors and
mechanisms that produce them are still without an answer.  I will
review the state of the art of the main observational advances and I
will outline the open problems.
