[Alumnos] [NGO-Argentina] Llamado a propuestas "early science" con el Gemini Planet Imager (GPI)

Estimados Investigadores de la Comunidad Astronómica Argentina:

 El Observatorio Gemini abre la presentacion de propuestas tipo "early
science" con el Gemini Planet Imager (GPI). Este instrumento esta
diseñado para detectar planetas extrasolares y es el más avanzado en su
tipo, aunque es de esperar que los investigadores sabrán darle uso para
otros temas.

 El GPI ya fue probado con exito a fines de 2013 (ver
http://www.gemini.edu/node/12113 ) por lo que la presente es una gran
oportunidad para la comunidad astronomica. Abajo copiamos los mensajes y
enlaces pertinentes.

The call for Early Science programs using the Gemini Planet Imager (GPI)
is now open, with full information posted at
http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/instruments/gpi/gpi-early-science/call-proposals. Proposals for shared-risk observations are due February 28, for execution in April. This call represents an accelerated opportunity for users to begin to use the instrument. Commissioning is not yet complete, so performance information is preliminary and may not represent the final capability of GPI.

We have released a new 2014A PIT to support the GPI early science call,
see

This new PIT, 2014.1.2, must be used for GPI early science (SV in the
PIT) as well as 2014A poor weather and director's time proposals. The
backends will reject proposals submitted by PIT 2014.1.1 since the
version numbers are different and adding GPI changed the internal
representation of observations. This version also fixes a problem with
Horizons non-sidereal target lookup.
