Estimados Investigadores/Docentes/Alumnos
el dia jueves 8 de marzo a las 14:00 hs se llevara a cabo una conferencia
en el Salon de Actos a cargo de la Prof. Sylvie Vauclair, del Institut de
Recherche en Astronomie et Planétologie (IRAP), Observatoire

Title:
"mic-mac" processes inside stars: atomic diffusion, accretion,
thermohaline convection, links with asteroseismology?
Abstract:
During their evolution, stars are subject to several kinds of microscopic
(atomic) and macroscopic transport phenomena which may strongly modify
their internal structures and observable parameters. These processes
occur together and compete with each other. I will describe the present
situation for this "mic-mac" coupling and will specially insist on atomic
diffusion including radiative accelerations, on thermohaline convection
and accretion.
About the speaker:
Sylvie D. Vauclair is an Astrophysicist at the Observatoire Midi-Pyrenees,
Toulouse Cedex, France, Professor at the University Paul Sabatier of
Toulouse and member of the Institut Universitaire de France. Her work
focuses on the formation and evolution of chemical elements that make up
matter in the Universe: Sun, stars and early universe. She has published
one hundred scientific papers and books including "The Sounds of Stars"
and "The Song of the Sun".
