Estimados Docentes/Investigadores/Alumnos:
hoy jueves 11 de agosto a las 16:00 hs en el Salon Meridiano de esta
Facultad se llevara a cabo la charla/seminario a cargo del Dr. Michael H.
Montgomery del Department of Astronomy and McDonald Observatory,
University of Texas at Austin, USA. Quedan todos invitados a asisitr.
Title: White Dwarf Stars as Fundamental Astrophysical Laboratories
Abstract: White dwarf stars are the endpoint of stellar evolution of over
97% of all stars. Overall, their evolution is simpler than that of other
stars, making them the ideal place to test various physical processes,
such as neutrino emission, crystallization, phase separation, and
convection. In addition, since their evolution is a cooling problem, their
temperatures can be used to derive their ages, so they can be used to
age-date different stellar populations. In this talk, I will highlight
some of the work we and others have done and I will discuss directions for
future work.
Cordiales saludos,
Alejandro.-
