Colliding stellar winds: theory and observations

The winds of massive stars are highly energetic, and create powerful shocks in 
binary systems where two such winds collide. In this talk I summarize some key 
observational properties of this interaction and recent progress in the 
development of models used to explain and understand the resulting emission.
