            15th National Space Science Symposium (NSSS-2008)
            =================================================


The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), in association with the
Astronomical Society of India (ASI), is organising the 15th National Space
Science Symposium NSSS-2008) during February 26 - 29, 2008 at the Radio
Astronomy Centre (NCRA-TIFR), Udhagamandalam (Ooty). The First Circular
from the ISRO announcing the Symposium is attached with this email.

The scientific programme of NSSS-2008 will include (in addition to the
themes related to space sciences) one Special Plenary Session (SPS-1) on
Space Astronomy and also Parallel Sessions (PS-3s) devoted to astronomy,
astrophysics, and planetary science. The Special Plenary Session will have
invited review talks. The Parallel Sessions will have (i) poster
presentation of all the contributory papers, (ii) invited review talks,
and (iii) oral presentation of selected papers.

The ASI strongly encourages its members, students and researchers working
in astronomy, astrophysics and planetary sciences to participate in the
NSSS.

All the participants need to get pre-registered by filling in the
`Response Form'. The attached `Response Form' may be duly filled in and sent to 
the Convener, LOC, NSSS-2008 at the address given on or before
November 10, 2007, along with the application for travel support, if any.
Please note that further circulars, communications on registration fee
payment details etc. will be sent by the Convener, LOC, NSSS-2008, only to
the pre-registered participants.


Please bring this circular to the notice of all interested persons. More
photo copies of the `Response Form' can be made or downloaded from the
NSSS-2008 web site (http://rac.ncra.tifr.res.in). Anyone needing hard
copies
of the circular and the 'Response Form' may also write to: ASI-SOC, Indian
Institute of Astrophysics, Koramangala II Block, Bangalore 560034.
