Every person who looks up at the night sky deserves the chance to
experience it as generations before us once did: filled with stars, wonder,
and curiosity. Protecting dark and quiet skies is not only an environmental
or scientific responsibility, t is also essential for astronomy outreach.
Artificial light and radio interference do more than limit astronomical
observations; they reduce opportunities for people to discover the
Universe, ask questions, and build a personal connection with the cosmos.
By defending dark and quiet skies, we help ensure that future generations
can continue to learn from, be inspired by, and share in one of humanity's
oldest and most universal experiences: looking up at the night sky.
At the OAO,* we believe that everyone has a role to play in protecting this
shared heritage.* We warmly invite you to join us in advocating for dark
and quiet skies through your outreach activities, your communities, and
your voice. Together, we can help preserve the night sky as a source of
knowledge, inspiration, and belonging for all.

The *Galileoscope* continues to be an affordable and powerful tool for
astronomy education, making it possible for anyone to explore the Moon's
craters, Jupiter's moons, the phases of Venus, and Saturn's rings.
Originally developed for the 2009 International Year of Astronomy, it is
still available today, now with optional accessories including a tripod, a
safe solar filter, and a planisphere. Whether you're an educator, outreach
organiser, or astronomy enthusiast, the Galileoscope remains an excellent
way to bring the wonders of the night sky to your community.
