nos ha llegado una amable sugerencia de dar a conocer un libro. No tenemos
esa costumbre, pero ¿por qué no?
(Primero fue adquirido y revisado por curiosidad y vale la pena. En
castellano fue publicado como  ‘Las palabras del cielo’, por D. Kunth.)

El aviso, en concreto es que desde 2025 está disponible en su versión
inglés, publicado por Springer y de coautoría con nuestra socia honoraria,
la Dra. Elena Terlevich.

Our colleague Daniel Kunth, emeritus astrophysicist at the CNRS (affiliated
laboratory: Institute d’astrophysique de Paris ), initiator of, among other
things, the Night of the Stars, published a beautiful book in 2012 with

Unbeknownst to many, our modern language contains countless words that were
inspired by human observations of the cosmos. We now use words like
“zenith”, “Monday”, “disaster”, “dog days”, “starfish”, “lunatic”, flu, and
so many others, without a second thought for their celestial roots.

Requiring no prior knowledge in astronomy or linguistics, this book’s
universal contents invite the reader to ponder how our observations of the
night sky have shaped our modern tongue and customs.

Heatwave, helium, disaster... The book Starwords, published this summer in
English by astrophysicist Daniel Kunth and astronomer Elena Terlevich,

everyday vocabulary without us really noticing.
