*A year of collective action **against misinformation*

The growing presence of misinformation, pseudoscience, and
conspiracy-driven narratives reminds us that science communication is a
shared responsibility. At this moment, countering disinformation requires
not only accurate data, but collective effort, care, and collaboration
within our community.

For this reason, the IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach will dedicate *2026*
to *strengthening access to reliable scientific information, educational
resources, and meaningful communication tools. *Together, as science
communicators, educators, and astronomy supporters, we aim to foster
informed dialogue and highlight current, innovative research through our
global events and outreach activities.

*IAU 3I/ATLAS Public Outreach Campaign*

The International Astronomical Union remains committed to ensuring that
public discussions on astronomy are grounded in verified scientific
evidence. In response to misleading information surrounding comet *3I/ATLAS*,
the IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach, in collaboration with the Minor
Planet Centre, has developed official outreach resources providing reviewed
and regularly updated scientific information. The website offers freely
usable communication resources, verified scientific content, and a detailed
PDF prepared jointly with the Minor Planet Centre.

*Women and Girls in Astronomy 2026*

For the 2026 edition of *Women and Girls in Astronomy*, we move beyond
celebration to create sustained, intentional spaces (both virtual and in
person), where women and girls can actively participate in the practice and
culture of astronomy. Through hands-on activities and meaningful
engagement, the initiative aims to provide concrete pathways into the
scientific community while affirming the essential value of women’s
perspectives in astronomical research.

Under the theme *Claiming Our Space*, we invite educators, science
communicators, and institutions worldwide to take part by organising their
own events, in their own languages and regions, for the benefit of girls in
astronomy. Together, we aim to build inclusive, connected spaces where
girls can engage with astronomy confidently and visibly.

Women of Astrobiology 2026

*Women of Astrobiology* is the theme of our 2026 scientific webinar series,
dedicated to highlighting the work of women in one of the most
interdisciplinary and rapidly evolving fields in science. Astrobiology
brings together astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology, engineering,
philosophy, and education to explore fundamental questions about life
beyond Earth.

We invite our global community to join the *opening webinar on 11 February*,
broadcast live on the IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach *YouTube channel*.
This first talk will mark the beginning of a series showcasing how women
are leading research on planetary environments, the origins of life, and
the search for biosignatures, while expanding the scientific, cultural, and
ethical dimensions of astrobiology.
