*Job Description*

The *Instituto de Física y Astronomía* at the *Universidad de Valparaíso*
(IFA-UV) invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in
extragalactic astrophysics, with the possibility of extending the
appointment through external funding. The successful candidate will join
the research group of Dr. Juan Molina and investigate the impact of active
galactic nuclei (AGNs) in galaxies at redshifts z = 1–3 (Cosmic Noon). The
research will focus on spatially resolved observations of the cold
interstellar medium, using molecular gas emission observed with ALMA, with
particular emphasis on constraining the physical processes associated with
AGN feedback. We welcome applicants with expertise in radio/mm
interferometry and/or integral-field spectroscopy (IFS). Candidates with
experience in the analysis and interpretation of spatially resolved
observations of galaxies, molecular gas, star formation, AGN activity, or
galaxy evolution are particularly encouraged to apply. IFA-UV hosts a
vibrant, diverse, and internationally connected astronomical research
community, providing an excellent environment for early-career researchers
to develop their scientific careers and pursue ambitious research. The
position offers a competitive salary by Chilean standards (~USD 31,000 per
year), together with dedicated support for conference travel, computing,
and other research expenses (~USD 5,800 per year). IFA-UV also provides
access to state-of-the-art computational infrastructure, including both
CPU- and GPU-based resources, supporting modern data-analysis and numerical
workflows.
