1. International Conference to Review Research in Science,Technology and
Mathematics Education

We are pleased to announce the first call for papers for epiSTEME-11
[1], the eleventh edition of the International Conference to Review
Research in Science, Technology, and Mathematics Education. Continuing
the tradition of the series, which has been hosted at HBCSE, TIFR since
2004, this edition will take place from 5–8 January 2027 in Mumbai,
India.

The first announcement and call for papers is now available on the
conference website (https://episteme11.hbcse.tifr.res.in [2]), detailing
the themes that will guide our discussions and the important deadlines
for the upcoming months.

We are pleased to share that we have already confirmed seven
distinguished review speakers for this edition; their profiles and
further details regarding the academic programme will soon be available
on the site. Please note that the online portal for paper submissions
will open on 1 May 2026, and the submission window will close on 25 June
2026.

We are keen to welcome science/mathematics education researchers as well
as practicing teachers from around the world to our centre. We would
also appreciate your help in circulating this call within your
professional networks. Your cooperation in helping us reach a wide
cohort of researchers is essential for ensuring a rigorous and diverse
programme.

this edition a success.

2. Workshop for Astronomy Beyond the Common Senses for Accessibility and
Inclusion

The Universidad Universidad Nacional de Colombia, the Universidad
Tecnológica Nacional, Facultad Regional Mendoza, Argentina and the IAU
EC Working Group Equity and Inclusion in Astronomy [3] are pleased to
announce the 4th Workshop for Astronomy Beyond the Common Senses for
Accessibility and Inclusion (4WAI 2026) [4], which will take place on 30
November - 1 December 2026 in Cancún, México, within the framework of
the Latin American Regional IAU Meeting (LARIM 2026 [5]).

The 4WAI workshop continues a growing international effort to promote
equity, accessibility, and inclusion in astronomy. Building on previous
editions held in Colombia, online, and Uruguay, this event brings
together astronomers, educators, disability specialists, students, and
science communicators to

share experiences and innovative practices.

The workshop will provide a collaborative platform to discuss:

- Inclusive and universal design methodologies in astronomy education

- Assistive technologies and multisensory approaches (tactile models,
sonification, audio description, haptics)

- Accessibility in astronomical data, observations, and outreach

- Inclusive STEM education and community-based initiatives

- Accessibility in planetariums and science centers

- The role of digital tools, artificial intelligence, and open-source
software in broadening access to astronomy

Aligned with the values of the International Astronomical Union, 4WAI
highlights astronomy as a powerful tool for social inclusion and
scientific enrichment, particularly across Latin America and beyond. We
warmly invite researchers, educators, students, and practitioners to
participate and contribute to this interdisciplinary exchange.

Participation

Participants are invited to submit abstracts for oral or poster
presentations [6]. Contributions may address inclusive practices,
accessible astronomy education, assistive technologies, outreach
initiatives, and related topics.

Registration [7] is free of charge.

We look forward to your participation in 4WAI 2026 [8], and to
continuing the collective effort toward a more inclusive and accessible
astronomy.
