Dear Colleagues,

The IAU WiA WG is pleased to share the following important updates:

*1- IAU STEM Ambassador Recognition award for 2024-2025: *The IAU EC Women
in Astronomy  WG officially launched the annual STEM Ambassador Recognition
Award at the XXXII IAU General Assembly in Cape Town (August 2024) –
iauwiaga2024.sciencesconf.org.
This inagural annual award recognizes exceptional individuals whose
sustained efforts in engagement, recruitment, retention, support, and
advocacy for anti-harassment policies have made a significant contribution
to advancing gender equity in astronomy.

We are delighted to announce this year’s honorees in their respective
categories:

*Dr. Lisa Kewley (USA / Australia) *-Inclusive Policy-making / Hiring
strategies for gender balance in astronomy,
*Dr. Mirjana Pović (Ethiopia)*- (Non-permanent Member with advocacy for
gender balance through regular awareness, funding, and training
initiatives),

*Dr. Rita de Cássia dos Anjos (Brazil) *-  (Minority
Representative advocating for gender balance through regular awareness and
training initiatives),

*Dr. Till Sawala & Dr. Syksy Räsänen (Finland)*- Male/ Other gender
balance advocates leading/supporting efforts against gender-based
harassment,

*Dr. Prajval Shastry (India) *- Advocacy through Outreach and actively
engaged in gender-balance initiatives, awareness programs, and supporting
the careers of women researchers.

These exceptional individuals have demonstrated outstanding leadership
through inclusive advocacy and will be formally recognized with IAU STEM
Ambassador Recognition certificates.

*2- Launch of the IAU Women in Astronomy Annual STEM Ambassador Recognition
Award Medal (2025):*  to honor individuals actively engaging in
gender-balance initiatives and awareness programs, supporting the careers
of women researchers, leading or contributing to efforts against
gender-based harassment, advocating for gender-balanced hiring strategies,
and implementing inclusive policies in their roles.

*The STEM Ambassador Recognition Award Medal will be presented to the most
inspiring individual (F/M/O) who has made a significant global impact in
supporting gender equity in astronomy, despite operating with limited
resources. This individual will have demonstrated exceptional leadership
while working in unpaid (or low-paid) roles related to gender equity in
astronomy, contributing to the advancement of gender-balanced hiring
policies, and advocating for funding practices that support women’s careers
in research at the global level. *
