Hi all,

I'd really appreciate it if you could help share this opportunity through
your networks. We’re looking for an advanced graduate student, postdoc, or
someone with equivalent or greater experience. Prior expertise in AI ethics
isn’t required—this is a relatively niche role; the more people we can
reach through word of mouth, the better our chances of finding the right
candidate.

Thank you!

Laura (VP Science Engagement, Adler Planetarium in Chicago; Governing
Council Member for North American Regional Office of Astronomy for
Development)

=====

Hi,

I am excited to share an opportunity that is part of our Kavli Foundation
funded ‘Ethical Considerations Around ML-Engaged Citizen Science’ effort
<https://www.kavlifoundation.org/news/relaying-public-input-on-machine-learning-to-researchers>.
We’re seeking a half-time Coordinator (contractor role) from April 2025
through June 2026. The total compensation for this role is $62,000. This is
a fully remote position.

This is a unique opportunity to help craft the first-ever AI framework for
Zooniverse, the world’s largest platform for participatory science, through
convening a series of workshops that bring together researchers, topic
experts, Zooniverse leadership team members, and platform volunteers.

We hope you might be interested in this role or would appreciate it if you
could help us spread the word within your networks.

Role Overview: We’re looking for an enthusiastic collaborator to:

   -

Contribute to the planning, execution, and summarization of virtual AI
   Ethics workshops
   -

Manage input of external stakeholders and lead communications planning
for dissemination of results (including an opportunity for conference
   travel)
   -

Contribute to written project output, including a co-authored,
   peer-reviewed publication

For full details on compensation, deliverables, structure, timeline, and
support, please see the attached Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-directed,
and able to meet deadlines while working independently. Experience taking
group meeting notes and synthesizing that information for public
consumption is desirable, and strong communication and writing skills are
essential. This role is best suited for an advanced graduate student,
postdoctoral fellow, or an individual with equivalent or greater
experience. Prior expertise in AI ethics is not required.

To apply: If you’re interested, please complete this brief application form
[https://forms.gle/h7vQtBRgiBZnhE9m8], which includes your name, a short
expression of interest, and your CV by April 5. We will review applications
on a rolling basis.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Samantha Blickhan, Zooniverse
Director and PI for this initiative, at samantha en zooniverse.org.

Best,

Laura
