Estoy buscando un candidato para hacer PhD en Barcelona y pienso que  
ustedes tal vez conocen mas gente joven. Tenemos 2 positions que

The Astrophysics and Astronomy Group at the Universitat Politècnica de  
Catalunya, Barcelona, is searching for a candidate to pursue PhD  
studies. The main objective of the project is the theoretical modeling  
of white dwarf stars, very dense objects whose gravity is supported by  
the enormous pressure of degenerate electrons. The Gaia space mission  
has provided a large amount of valuable information about the white  
dwarf population of our Galaxy, revealing unexpected properties of the  
evolution and cooling of these stars, some of which remain open topics  
of debate. In the coming years, greater understanding of the white  
dwarf population is expected thanks to telescopes such as 4MOST,  
WEAVE, DESI, among others. Therefore, new theoretical models and  
detailed simulations will be needed for their analysis and  
understanding. In particular, emphasis will be placed on studying  
alternative energy sources and elucidating the origin of magnetic  
fields in white dwarf stars. Requirements: A degree in physics,  
astrophysics, mathematics, or a related discipline at the time of  
starting the PhD. Basic knowledge of English and programming is  
recommended.
