Dear Representatives of National Professional Astronomical Communities
in South/Central America,

We are writing on behalf of The Leiden/ESA Astrophysics Program for
Summer Students (LEAPS) which will take place in 2024 between 10th June
and 16th August. The program will see 9 students take part in 10 weeks
of research at either with the Observatory department at Leiden
University or ESA's ESTEC facility. The target audience is students who
have completed at least 2 years of a bachelors degree (at the time of
application) and have not yet been accepted onto a PhD program.

Applications close on 1st February and may now be made via our website
(http://leaps.strw.leidenuniv.nl/). Applications are encouraged from all
nationalities, and we value greatly receiving a diverse set of
applicants such that top students from around the world, especially from
those countries which have been historically under-represented in
astronomy, may have a chance to participate in astrophysics research in
the Netherlands. So far we have received fairly few applications from
countries in South or Central America. Therefore, we wondered if you
would be able to advertise this opportunity to your student
members/network/division for example via your website, email bulletin or
social media. We have attached a poster with the main details; for more
information please see our website.
