1. Call for nominations: 2024 Stein Rokkan Prize
For ISC Members and your networks

The Stein Rokkan Prize for Comparative Social Science Research, presented 
annually by the University of Bergen, the European Consortium for 
Political Research and the ISC, is awarded to the most original and 
substantial contribution in comparative social science with a prize fund 
of € 5,000. The Prize is open to candidates from all social science 
disciplines and nominations can be submitted until 30 April:

2. Zoom meeting with the ISC Regional Focal Point for Asia and the Pacific
For ISC Members only

All ISC Members, and particularly those active in the region, are invited 
to this first meeting of the regular Zoom series facilitated by the ISC 
Regional Focal Point for Asia and the Pacific (RFP-AP) on 13 March at 
07:30 am UTC. Register to receive an update on the workplan of the RFP-AP 
as well as opportunities for engagement and upcoming meetings and

3. Zoom Meeting with ISC President
For ISC Members only

The first quarterly Zoom meeting with the ISC President, Peter Gluckman, 
and ISC Members in 2024 is scheduled for 19 March at 08:00 am UTC, and 20 
March at 17:00 UTC. All staff members, office bearers and representatives 
of ISC Member organizations are invited to attend. The President will be 
providing an overview of the discussions and decisions from recent ISC 
Governing Board meetings as well as an update on ISC activities, upcoming 
meetings and partnerships, among others. Registration:

4. Call for nominations: Global Ocean Observing System Steering Committee
For ISC Members and your networks

ISC Affiliated Body, the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) is inviting 
nominations for new members of its Steering Committee, which governs and 
coordinates the components of GOOS and steers its work. Nominations can be 
submitted to the ISC secretariat by email to Katsia Paulavets 
(katsia.paulavets en council.science) by 7 March. More information, including

5. Participate in UNEP Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) meetings
For ISC Members and your networks

The ISC stands ready to facilitate the participation of interested 
individuals in the 26th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, 
Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 26) from 13 - 18 May, and the 
4th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI 4) from 21 - 29 
May in Nairobi, Kenya. Interested experts working actively on issues 
addressed by the CBD may contact Olivia Tighe 
(olivia.tighe en council.science) regarding their registration by 26 April.

6. ISC engagement in UN processes – next steps
For ISC Members only

If you have missed the Zoom sessions regarding the ISC’s engagement, 
progress and priorities in global-policy processes, please access the 
recordings as well as the presentation slides at

As a next step, the ISC Liaison to the UN System will be arranging 
meetings with countries’ permanent representations to the United Nations 
in New York, and looks forward to highlighting the ISC’s membership based 
in their respective countries. Please let us know if there are any 
considerations you would like us to keep in mind as we move toward this 
next phase of work in the UN system.
