Tenure-track  Female Professor Position at the Santiago Campus of the
Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, Chile

The Department of Physics at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María
(UTFSM), Chile, invites applications for a female faculty position at the
Santiago Campus, in the fields of Astrophysics, Physics, or Physical
Engineering. The applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Physics,
Astrophysics or Engineering, with proven research productivity and
commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.

At the Santiago Campus, the Astrophysics Group (Antonio Montero-Dorta, Rory
Smith, Matías Montesinos) specializes in computational and theoretical
astrophysics and cosmology, spanning from proto-planetary disks, to galaxy
evolution and large-scale structure. Ideally, we are looking for a
candidate who can diversify our research fields, while complementing the
existing expertise. The Astrophysics Group at UTFSM also includes Yara
Jaffé, Matthias Schreiber and Odette Toloza, at the Valparaíso Campus.

The successful candidate is expected to have a commitment to excellence in
research and to join the recently opened undergraduate and graduate
programs, interacting closely with students. The selected candidate is
expected to teach in Spanish within a year. UTFSM is mainly focused on
Science and Engineering with multidisciplinary activities, attracting some
of the most brilliant students in these fields.

Astrophysics candidates will have access to the Chilean ten percent of
observing time at the Telescopes located in our country, which include ALMA
and the VLT, and also the ELT and GMT in the near future.

Applicants should submit the following documents: complete CV, letter of
motivation, statement of research interests and research plans, two letters
of recommendation, copy of academic degree certificates and copy of 5 key
relevant papers from their publication list. Please be aware that the
deadline is quite soon (May 13, 2024).
