Próximo Coloquio del IAFE, miércoles 19 de abril, 14hs:

"Near Field Cosmology with dark matter halos in disequilibrium"

(Center for Computational Astrophysics, Flatiron Institute, USA)

Abstract:

Recent observational evidence has shown that the Milky Way galaxy is not
in dynamical equilibrium. The main source of disequilibrium is the
interaction with massive satellites, like Sagitarius and the Large
Magellanic Clouds. Such a disequilibrium state permits studying how Dark
Matter halos respond to external satellite perturbations. In this talk, I
will describe how DM halos respond to the accretion of satellites and what
are some of the observational signatures of these interactions.
Furthermore, I'll describe how this disequilibrium serves as a potential
probe into the nature of Dark Matter. Finally, I will describe new methods
to understand and model dynamical disequilibrium using Basis Function
Expansions which will allow us to maximize the interpretation of current
and upcoming observational data sets.
