Join NameExoWorlds 2022



The IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach (OAO) invites professional
astronomers, including IAU-members, to come together with students and
teachers, astronomy enthusiasts, and amateurs astronomers to form a team
and propose names for 20 exoplanetary systems, each of which consists of
one known exoplanet and its host star.



To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its OAO, the International
Astronomical Union (IAU) launched a contest to name 20 exoplanetary systems
to be observed by JWST. The competition, NameExoWorlds 2022
<https://www.nameexoworlds.iau.org/2022edition>, seeks to bring together
both professional astronomers and the wider public, giving them the
opportunity to name the 20 selected exoplanets along with their host stars.



How can professional Astronomers help?

   - Join the teams: Teams around the world are looking for a professional
   astronomer to add to their roster. Professional Astronomers can be a member
   of multiple teams.
   - Participate in outreach events: As part of the proposals, teams will
   need to conduct an outreach initiative. Professional astronomers are
   invited to share their knowledge about exoplanets and the excitement of
   their discovery.



To participate, professional astronomers can contact the IAU National
Outreach Coordinators

their country or simply sign up for the Meet the IAU Astronomers!

support, guidance, or participate in an outreach event.



Furthermore, astronomers are welcome to invite as many people from groups
of students, teachers, astronomy enthusiasts, and amateur astronomers and
