El Observatorio Pierre Auger invita a postulaciones a una
posición de postdoctorado para cubrir el cargo de Coordinador
del Detector de Fluorescencia en el Observatorio Pierre Auger
en Malargüe, Provincia de Mendoza, Argentina .

El Observatorio Pierre Auger es una facilidad única, instalada
en el sur de la provincia de Mendoza, para el estudio de rayos
cósmicos de las más altas energías. El Observatorio opera más de
1600 detectores de superficie y 27 telescopios de fluorescencia,
cubriendo un área de más de 3000 km2. Actualmente se está
realizando un programa de mejoras del Observatorio, incluyendo
la instalación de detectores centelladores, antenas de radio y
detectores subterráneos de muones.

La Colaboración Pierre Auger incluye a 400 científicos de más
de 90 instituciones de 18 países. El sitio del Observatorio en Malargüe
alberga a más de 30 científicos, técnicos y personal de apoyo, además
de miembros de la Colaboración Internacional que visitan el sitio
regularmente.

El/la candidato/a seleccionado/a coordinará la adquisición de datos
con los detectores de fluorescencia, asegurará la calidad de los datos
y la funcionalidad de varios instrumentos asociados. Esto incluye el
mantenimiento y la supervisión de sistemas mecánicos y
electrónicos, así como la infraestructura de comunicaciones basada
parcialmente en Linux y Windows. Trabajará en equipo junto a los
expertos locales del Observatorio, así como en cooperación con los
jefes de grupos de trabajo de la Colaboración Pierre Auger para
las distintas tareas tanto de hardware como de análisis de datos.

Se recibirán postulaciones de doctores/as en física, ingeniería o
carreras afines, con experiencia en hardware, software y procesamiento
y análisis de datos.  Postulaciones de estudiantes de doctorado
avanzados/as también serán consideradas.

Lugar de residencia será Malargüe, Mendoza, Argentina.
El horario laboral estará vinculado a los cronogramas de turnos
de toma de datos y mantenimiento, por lo que se requiere
predisposición para realizar tareas fuera de los horarios laborales
normales. El cargo requiere interacción activa y trabajo en equipo
con la colaboración internacional, por lo que un buen dominio del
idioma inglés es un requisito excluyente. Habilidades de comunicación
son convenientes. Se priorizarán postulantes con disponibilidad para
viajar para realizar capacitaciones en distintas instituciones de Auger.

Fecha de inicio será a la mayor brevedad posible. La duración del cargo es
de dos años, y se requiere un mínimo de un año de disponibilidad por
parte de los postulantes. En caso de buen desempeño, es posible una
extensión del tiempo de contratación. El salario será según estándares
internacionales, de acuerdo a la experiencia y los antecedentes del/de la
postulante seleccionado/a. El cargo será cubierto con un contrato de
empleo formal a través de Fundación Ahuekna, Argentina. El Observatorio
proveerá soporte para la búsqueda de vivienda, así como para cubrir los
costos de traslado y mudanza a Malargüe.
