*Dear friends and colleagues, The "Under One Sky" Call for Proposals

Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples celebrated on 9 August 2022. Don't

to encourage you once again to join our IAU Inclusive Outreach community,
highlight the communicating climate risk toolkit and join our Communicating
Astronomy with the Public (CAP) Journal as a peer reviewer.  We want to
give a warm welcome to our new colleague Suzana Filipecki Martins. Suzana
is joining our team as our International Outreach Officer (IOO) and will be
working with us as Project Manager of designated IAU Outreach Global
projects and programmes, and engaged in Editorial Managing tasks for the

*1) Telescopes for All Special Edition: 100 Hours of Astronomy Winners
Announced*

>From October 1–4, 2021, the world celebrated “Together Under One Sky” in
over 60 countries, continuing the legacy of the popular IAU global
project “100 Hours of Astronomy”. The IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach and
partners, Stars Shine for Everyone (SSVI), Leiden University and Bresser,
donated 10 telescopes to participating outreach groups, awarding them for
their creativity in connecting and reaching out to their communities.
Additionally, the first 100 activities registered in our IAU Outreach Event
Calendar received the latest editions of CAP Journal and other IAU OAO
goodies.

*2) Communicating Astronomy with the Public Journal: Call for
Peer-Reviewers*

The Communicating Astronomy with the Public Journal (CAPjournal) is a free
peer-reviewed journal for astronomy communicators, currently issued two
times per year and distributed both online and in print, published by the
IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach. We wish to invite interested members to
join our pool of peer-review experts to continue to ensure the high quality
of CAPjournal.

To apply please send an email with an expression of interest to
capjournal en oao.iau.org, with Subject: CAPjournal Peer-Reviewer Application.

*3) Calls for Applications for Workshops Under the IAU Hands-On Workshops
(I-HOW) Initiative*

The IAU calls for applications for workshops under the IAU Hands-On
Workshops (I-HOW) initiative. This is an initiative to train young
scientists in developing countries in accessing, analysing and using those
data for their research projects. Proposals to organise one of these
workshops should be submitted by January 31, 2022.

*4) Outcomes of the Forum on Astronomy in Africa*

The Forum on Astronomy in Africa was hosted online from 27 to 29 October
2021. The purpose of this meeting was to bring together the African
Astronomy community in preparation for the IAU General Assembly in 2024
(which will be the first in Africa). The event had over 400 registered
participants and it was an important milestone for identifying key science,
outreach and collaborative initiatives on the continent, in order to
briefly map out the landscape of astronomy in Africa before 2024.

Call for nominations for the 2021 Women in Astronomy in Africa Awards. The
aim of the award is to recognise and support the scientific achievements,
and contributions to society, of women in Astronomy in Africa. The deadline

*7) Communicating Climate Risk Toolkit*

Conversations about climate action need to include everyone. To effectively
address climate risk we need to communicate across numerous communities.
"Communicating Climate Risk Toolkit" provides recommendations and practical
tools to support this dialogue.

*8) New Report: Pathways to Discovery in Astronomy and Astrophysics for the
2020s*

A new decadal survey from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering,
and Medicine identifies scientific priorities, opportunities, and funding
recommendations for the next 10 years of astronomy and astrophysics.
“Pathways to Discovery in Astronomy and Astrophysics for the 2020s” drew
from the astronomical community through hundreds of white papers, town hall
meetings, and the advice of 13 sub-panels over several years to produce its
recommendations.
