Welcome to the first UNOOSA newsletter of 2021!

The start of the year has been exciting at UNOOSA, with new partnerships
and projects to expand access to the benefits of space.

Together with the Keldysh Institute of Mathematics, we are
offering institutions in developing countries the possibility to receive a
small telescope and training to operate it, as part of UNOOSA Access to
Space For All Initiative.

Together with ESA, we launched a series of infographics and podcasts
explaining facts and figures about space debris, a topic of concern for all
nations.

We signed an agreement with the UK government to promote space
sustainability and renewed our partnership with the Prince Sultan Bin
Abdulaziz International Prize for Water to continue to grow our Space4Water
portal.

We are also excited to announce that UNOOSA will host the next Planetary
Defence Conference, which will take place in virtual format on 26-30
April.

UNOOSA programme UN-SPIDER, dedicated to leveraging space for disaster risk
reduction, gave an overview of upcoming 2021 activities, the recording of
which can be seen online.

And finally, Space4Water is calling on women all over the world to share
their daily issues and experiences related to water management.

UNOOSA TO HOST PLANETARY DEFENSE CONFERENCE 2021

The bi-annual conference brings together world experts to discuss the

SPACE4WATER CALL FOR LOCAL PERSPECTIVES: WOMEN AND WATER

We are calling on women from all over the world to share their perspectives
on local issues related to water resource management, to help us identify
gaps and potential solutions that space can contribute to.
