Job Announcement:
Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB) in Santiago, Chile, invites applications
for two faculty positions in Astrophysics at any level from assistant to
full professor, depending on the experience of the candidate.
The requirements are a Ph.D. degree in Astronomy/Astrophysics or related
fields, as well as a demonstrated ability and commitment to excellence in
research and teaching.
The candidate should be able to teach in Spanish within approximately two
years.
The astrophysics group at UNAB currently includes 9 faculty, 6 postdocs, 15
Ph.D students and aims for vigorous expansion.
Successful applicants will have access to the 10% of time guaranteed to
Chilean institutions on all international observatories based in the
country
(ESO/Paranal, ALMA, APEX, CTA-South, Las Campanas, ESO/La Silla, CTIO,
Gemini, Vera Rubin, etc.).
In addition, the Department hosts a cluster computer for numerical
simulations and high-volume data reduction.
Universidad Andrés Bello aims to maintain a gender balance at all levels.
Complete applications must consist of a single PDF file, including a cover
letter, a curriculum vitae and short statements of research interests and
teaching philosophy.
Candidates should also arrange for three reference letters.
