Discover the latest updates for IAU100 Women and Girls in Astronomy and
learn about the new prize that has been announced for event organisers!

Dear Supporters and Event Organisers of the IAU100 Women and Girls in
Astronomy project,

We are excited to share two announcements with you regarding the IAU100
Women & Girls in Astronomy project and the upcoming Women & Girls in
Astronomy Day on 11 February, 2019.

Firstly, we are excited to announce a new competition for event organisers
that conduct an activity as part of the IAU100 Women and Girls in
Astronomy. One standout event organizer whose activities innovatively and
inclusively celebrates Women & Girls in Astronomy will win a trip to Tokyo,
Japan to attend the IAU Symposium “Astronomy for Equity, Diversity and
Inclusion”

hosted by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan

(NAOJ) from 12-15 November 2019!

The winner will receive up to €1000 for travel to Japan, up to €500 for
accommodation in Tokyo, and free registration for the symposium. Eligible
events include those that will be held on or before 30 June 2019 and that
are registered on the IAU100 Event Calendar

under the category “IAU Women and Girls in Astronomy Event”. Event
organisers will be invited to complete a feedback form to gather
information about their event.  IAU100 will use this information to select
one event organiser who conducted an event that most innovatively and
inclusively celebrated women and girls in astronomy through their
activities. Eligible events will be assessed for innovation, creativity,
sustainability, inclusivity and accessibility.

We are also excited to release a dedicated poster and banner

your own events. This poster depicts a gathering of children and adults

fraction of the history and diversity within the astronomy community. You
