[AAA] Workshop on Instrumentation for Modern Telescopes (fwd)

The Brazilian institutions MCT/Laboratorio Nacional de Astrofisica,
Instituto de Astronomia Geofisica e Ciencias Atmosfericas/USP, and the
Instituto do Milenio Megalit are pleased to announce a workshop on

Optical and Infrared Astronomical Instrumentation for Modern
      Telescopes

to be held at the Convention Center of the Hotel do Bosque,
Angra dos Reis, Brazil, on November 16-20, 2003.

The workshop will focus on optical and infrared instruments for
large- and medium-class telescopes, giving special attention on
projects involving the Brazilian community (Gemini Observatory
and SOAR Telescope), but it is open for contributions concerning
instrumentation for other telescopes as well.

Apart from instrumentation issues, the workshop will also deal
with the science to be done with the current and next generation
instruments and telescopes.

Some topics that will be addressed are:

* Gemini, SOAR an VLT Second Generation Instrumentation
* Development of Volume Phase Holographic Gratings
* Optical Design for New Generation Instruments
* Adaptative Optics Systems,
* Telescope and Instrument Control Systems
* Project and Observatory Management.
