    R. D. Stephens, Landers, CA, USA; and B. D. Warner, Eaton, CO, USA,
report that CCD photometric observations, made between Oct. 25 and Nov. 19
with their Center for Solar System Studies 0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope
(+ Finger Lakes Instruments Microline 1001e camera) at Landers, show that
minor planet (5425) is a binary system with an orbital period of 25.43 +/-
0.02 hr. The lightcurve of the primary has a period of 2.64759 +/- 0.000004
hr with an amplitude of 0.27 +/- 0.02 mag; its V magnitude ranged from 15.79
to 15.42 over the observing run. Assuming an equatorial view of the primary,
this indicates that it is an elongated body with an a/b axial ratio of
about 1.3:1. The depth of the mutual events ranges from 0.05 to 0.08 mag.
The depth of the secondary event gives a lower limit for the effective
secondary-to-primary diameter ratio of Ds/Dp = 0.22 +/- 0.02.
