DWARF NOVA IN GEMINI
     T. Morokuma, Institute of Astronomy, University of Tokyo; N. Tominaga,
E. Matsumoto, T. Shibata, and M. Yamanaka, Konan University; and M. Tanaka,
National Astronomical Observatory of Japan -- on behalf of the Kiso Supernova
Survey (KISS) collaboration -- report the discovery of a new transient object
(mag 16.6) on a g-band CCD image (limiting mag 19.9) taken on Oct. 27.72 UT
with the Kiso Wide Field Camera (field-of-view 2.1 deg x 2.1 deg) on the
1.05-m Schmidt telescope at the Kiso Observatory. The new object is located
at R.A. = 7h55m40s.62, Decl. = +26d46'18".4 (equinox 2000.0), which is the
same position as a blue object in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS
J075540.64+264618.6).
     T. Nakaoka, M. Uemura, K. Kawaguchi, Y. Kanda, K. S. Kawabata, K.
Takaki, and M. Kawabata, Hiroshima University; and M. Yamanaka, Konan
University -- on behalf of the KISS collaboration -- report that they obtained
a low-resolution optical spectrum on Oct. 28.8 UT with the 1.5-m Kanata
telescope (+ HOWPol) at the Higashi-Hiroshima Observatory. The spectrum shows
a blue continuum and prominent emission lines in Balmer series. The FWHM and
equivalent widths of the H-alpha, H-beta, and H-gamma emission lines are about
1500 km/s and 4.8 nm, 2100 km/s and 5.8 nm, and 1600 km/s and 3.3 nm,
respectively. Other emission lines of He II 468.6-nm, and He I 667.8-,
587.6-, and 447.1-nm, are also confirmed. These suggest that the object would
be classified as a dwarf nova.
