SUPERNOVA 2013gj
     A. J. Drake, S. G. Djorgovski, M. J. Graham, A. Mahabal, and R. Williams,
California Institute of Technology; J. L. Prieto, Princeton University; M.
Catelan, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile; and S. M. Larson and E.
Christensen, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of Arizona, report the
Catalina Real-time Transient Survey discovery of an apparent supernova in
unfiltered Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) images:

Additional CSS magnitudes for 2013gj:  Oct. 9.42 UT, 16.9; Oct. 23.35, 17.2.

     E. Kankare, R. Rekola, and S. Mattila, University of Turku; and A.
Somero and J. Telting, Nordic Optical Telescope, report that they obtained a
low-resolution spectrogram of 2013gj on Nov. 13.0 UT with the Nordic Optical
Telescope (+ ALFOSC; range 320-910 nm).  The spectrum suggests that 2013gj is
a type-II supernova.  Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra
using the "GELATO" code (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383; available at
https://gelato.tng.iac.es/login.cgi) yields a good match with the type-II
supernova 2008fc showing unusually broad H-alpha (Modjaz et al. 2008, CBET
1482), at about 45 days after maximum light, roughly at z = 0.025.
