COMET C/2012 S1 (ISON)
     D. Schleicher, Lowell Observatory, obtained limited narrowband
photometry of comet C/2012 S1 (cf. CBET 3238) on 2013 Mar. 5 (when
at r = 4.57 AU) using the Hall 1.1-m telescope at Lowell
Observatory, resulting in the following CN and dust production
rates: Q(CN) = 1.3 x 10**24; [Af(rho)] at 445 nm = 120 cm, with a
97'-diameter aperture.  The CN value can be used to infer a Q(H_2O;
vectorial) value of about 3 x 10**26, but with a viable range from
1 x 10**26 to 1 x 10**27.
Unfiltered CCD total-magnitude estimates: Jan. 21.85 UT,
15.8 (S. Shurpakov, Baran, Belarus, 20-cm reflector); Feb. 11.57,
15.8 (K. Yoshimoto, Yamaguchi, Japan, 16-cm reflector); 27.75,
15.3 (Shurpakov); Mar. 6.72, 15.5 (Shurpakov).

COMET C/2011 L4 (PANSTARRS)
Visual total-magnitude estimates, via naked eye unless noted
otherwise (cf. CBET 3429): Mar. 4.41 UT, 2.0 (David A. J. Seargent,
Cowra, NSW, Australia; 1.5-deg tail); 5.41, 1.8 (Seargent); 6.41,
1.7 (Seargent); 10.77, 1.4 (J. J. Gonzalez, Girona, Spain, 10x50
binoculars; corrected for atmospheric extinction; 2'.5 coma); 11.09,
1.5: (C. W. Hergenrother, Tucson, Arizona; 0.4-deg tail in p.a. 80
deg via 10x50 binoculars). S. Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, reports the
following total magnitudes, coma diameters, and tail lengths
measured by K. Kadota (Ageo, Japan) from stacked CCD frames obtained
with an 18-cm f/5.5 reflector (+ I filter) with the comet at low
altitude in the evening sky: Mar. 8.83, 2.5 (corrected for
atmospheric extinction), 2' coma, 2'-long tail in p.a. 120 deg; Mar.
9.385, 2.2, 3' coma with strong central condensation, 10'-long tail
in p.a. 110 deg.

THE EDGAR WILSON AWARDS 2011 AND 2012
Under the rules established in 1998 for the Edgar Wilson
Awards for the discovery of comets by amateur astronomers (cf. IAUC
6936), the Awards for 2011 and 2012 (reckoned with June 11 each
year as the annual calendar end date) go to the following
individuals: Kaoru Ikeya and Shigeki Murakami for comet P/2010 V1
(cf. IAUCs 9175, 9176); Leonid Elenin for C/2010 X1 and P/2011
NO_1 (cf. IAUCs 9189 and 9227); Michael Schwartz and Paulo
Holvorcem for C/2011 K1 (cf. IAUC 9211); Artyom O. Novichonok and
Vladimir V. Gerke for P/2011 R3 (cf. IAUC 9232); Claudine Rinner
for P/2011 W2 (cf. IAUC 9244); Terry Lovejoy for C/2011 W3 (cf.
IAUC 9245); and Manfred Bruenjes for C/2012 C2 (cf. CBET 3019).
