NOVA SCORPII 2013 = PNV J17335943-3606216
     T. Kajikawa, Koyama Astronomical Observatory, Kyoto Sangyo University,
reports on low-dispersion optical spectroscopic observations of N Sco 2013
(cf. CBET 3542) made on June 4.64 UT using the 1.3-m Araki telescope (+
LOSA/F2 spectrograph; R about 580 at H-alpha).  The spectra of the nova show
prominent emission lines of H_alpha, Fe II (multiplets 42, 73, 74), O I, N I,
and Ca II on a highly reddened continuum.  The FWHM of the H_alpha emission is
about 2500 km/s.  These features suggest that the object is an "Fe II"-type
classical nova reddened by interstellar extinction.  The spectra are posted at

     A. Arai, Nishi-Harima Astronomical Observatory, University of Hyogo,
reports on low-resolution optical spectroscopy of N Sco 2013 obtained on June
4.69 UT under a hazy sky using the 2-m Nayuta telescope (+ MALLS spectrograph;
R about 1500 at H-alpha).  The spectra of show a broad H-alpha emission (FWHM
about 2500 km/s, estimated by its red-side profile), which has a tiny P-Cyg
profile, the absorption bottom of the H-alpha profile being blueshifted by
about 1800 km/s.  Also visible are Fe II (multiplets 74) emission lines (FWHM
about 1800-2000 km/s).  These features suggest that the object is a "Fe II"-
type classical nova after maximum light.

     E. O. Waagen, AAVSO, forwards a report from N. J. Brown (Two Rocks, W.
Australia) that nothing was visible to photographic magnitude 12.4 at the
position of N Sco 2013 on his TMax 400 film taken on May 31.67 UT with a
135-mm-f.l. f/2 camera lens.  Additional CCD magnitudes for the nova provided
by Waagen:  June 5.129, V = 13.9 (J. Hambsch, Mol, Belgium); 5.130, I = 9.9
(Hambsch); 5.336, V = 13.9 (C. Hergenrother, Tucson, AZ, U.S.A.); 6.127, V =
14.1, I = 10.1 (Hambsch); 6.335, V = 14.6 (Hergenrother); 7.124, V = 14.4, I
= 10.3 (Hambsch); 7.332, V = 14.6 (Hergenrother); 7.654, V = 14.3 (K. Hills,
Hartford, England); 8.329, V = 14.8 (Hergenrother); 9.469, B = 17.0 (T.
Bohlsen, Armidale, NSW, Australia); 9.475, V = 14.7 (Bohlsen); 9.479, R = 12.5
(Bohlsen); 9.484, I = 10.7 (Bohlsen); 11.319, V = 15.4 (Hergenrother).
